REVEIW:
General impressions:
This is my second comment and this is my third Laurel.
I bought it because I love the car!
I know all about its insides from the previous cars. I like the body very much! A newer car – body 35 – is different; this is not Laurel, no charisma.
I got the car in a relatively good condition – after 4 years of exploitations. I purchased the car with minor defects: a crack in the wind-screen (I have not changed it yet), dead rear stanchions (I replaced after one of them broke off) and non-operating wipers.
I changed motor brushes for the wipers and they started operating.
Spark plugs and filters have long been unchanged (not less than 30 thousand), so the car would not run.
I replaced and all was OK. What surprised me was that fuel consumption is in the range of 11-12 liters in-city, and this is after 270 thousand km run!
I’ll probably charge the conditioner, should I wish greatly.
Those were all the costs. Our roads are poor – the front suspension began clanging, judging by the sound – stabilizers or trunnion balls, a trifle in any case.
Though the car is not forced (125 hp), it is very dynamic. On a highway I sped it up to some speed – the pointer passed 180 -- and there still was a reserve. The speed is felt as if it was 100 km/h. I usually drive at 150-160 km/h on a highway. Earlier I could not afford it on any car: either Mark or Corolla, or any other Japan cars which I had owned – it was fearsome due to the loss of steer-ability.
This car runs like a torpedo – along the set course. It does not like sharp maneuvering, as it begins tilting due to a mild suspension. On a high speed you don’t feel the road bumps – they are all absorbed by the suspension. And very quietly in the salon!
What the car needs is a more rigid suspension and a turbine under the hood!
I’m very satisfied with this car.
Perhaps because of my bat habit I’m going to change it for something else (am I not a fool?). I just want new impressions. Everything is learned from comparison. I had other cars between Laurels and I come back to Laurel – this must be a never-ending love!
Only positive emotions. If you are to choose between Toyota MARK II class and Laurel, I’ll give you a piece of advice: take Laurel for your heart’s satisfaction and Toyota as a workhorse.
